Empty Nest is an American television sitcom that aired on NBC for seven seasons between October 8, 1988, and June 17, 1995. Created by Susan Harris, the series served as a spin-off of The Golden Girls. The program follows the day-to-day life of Dr. Harry Weston, a recently widowed pediatrician. While Harry is highly skilled at treating his young patients, he faces various personal challenges involving his two adult daughters, Barbara and Carol, who return to live with him following their failed marriages. The household and office environment also includes his wisecracking nurse and office assistant LaVerne Todd, an obnoxious neighbor named Charley Dietz, and a large dog named Dreyfuss.
