Overview

Deep Dark Canyon is a 2013 American independent dramatic thriller film directed by Abe Levy and Silver Tree. The movie stars Ted Levine, Spencer Treat Clark, Nick Eversman, and Martin Starr. The story centers on Bloom Towne, a small-town sheriff who maintains a long-held allegiance to the influential family of Mayor Dick Cavanaugh. The plot is set in motion when Bloom’s teenage sons, Nate and Skylar, accidentally shoot and kill the mayor during a deer hunt. Following the incident, Skylar, who is a minor, claims responsibility for the fatal shot to protect his older brother. The Cavanaugh family responds with quick retaliation, leading to Skylar being sent to jail to be tried as an adult. Driven by guilt, Nate breaks his brother out of custody. The brothers are subsequently forced to go on the run as the mayor’s family declares open season on them. The film, which has a runtime of one hour and thirty minutes, was released in the United States on April 23, 2013.
