Overview

Dame Chocolate is a 2007 Spanish-language telenovela produced by the United States-based television network Telemundo. Also known by the international title Sweet Secret, the series aired from March 5 until October 5, 2007. The story follows a young woman named Rosita, played by Génesis Rodríguez, who leaves rural Mexico for Miami to pursue her destiny in the chocolate business. The plot centers on the Remington family, who had long relied on Rosita's grandfather, Juan, to produce their signature chocolate. Following his death, Rosita takes on the responsibility of continuing the work while demanding respect and love in exchange for her contributions. The cast includes Carlos Ponce, Kristina Lilley, and María Antonieta de las Nieves. Elements of this romantic soap opera have been compared to productions such as Ugly Betty, The Beverly Hillbillies, and the Tammy films. On November 27, 2007, Lionsgate Home Entertainment and Xenon Pictures released an abridged four-disc DVD set of the series for the United States market.
