On Christmas Eve, the residents of Coronation Street prepare for a local play. Ena agrees to play the piano for the production. As preparations move forward, the residents attempt to mend the costumes for the show. Minnie takes part in the preparations dressed as a gaiety girl, though her appearance does not go down too well. When the performance begins, Ena opens the musical proceedings by playing Land of Hope and Glory. However, the theatrical atmosphere proves overwhelming for Emily, who suffers from stage fright as the events unfold.
