Synopsis
Elsie apologies to Annie. The Cheveskis receive a letter from a workmate of Ivan's in Canada. His photos of the affluent life there interest Linda. Elsie and Ena confront each other in the Street and verbally attack each other as the residents look on. Dennis has to stop Elsie from hitting Ena, who ends the fight by shouting that if she had written the letter she would have had the decency to sign it. Elsie realises with shock that she's right. The argument over, the residents wonder who did write it.

In this episode of Coronation Street, Elsie offers an apology to Annie. Elsewhere, the Cheveskis receive a letter from a workmate of Ivan's who is living in Canada. Included with the correspondence are photographs depicting an affluent life abroad, which capture Linda's interest.
Later in the street, Elsie and Ena engage in a public confrontation, trading verbal attacks as local residents gather to watch. The situation escalates to the point where Dennis has to physically intervene to prevent Elsie from striking Ena. The altercation ultimately concludes when Ena shouts out that if she had written the letter in question, she would have at least had the decency to sign her name to it. Hearing this, Elsie is struck by a sudden realization and understands that Ena is right. With the argument brought to an end, the surrounding residents are left wondering about the true identity of the letter's author.
