Coal Tower is a drama and comedy film released on March 28, 2002, in the Czech Republic, with a runtime of one hour and forty-one minutes. The story centers on Jakub, a young and small-time drug dealer. While his parents are away on holiday, Jakub wakes up to find the police storming his apartment building. Believing the raid is directed at him, he flushes all of his secret stashes of drugs down the toilet. However, he soon discovers that the police are actually present to investigate the death of a girl who lived upstairs. The deceased girl was a close childhood friend of Jakub and his family. Following this realization, Jakub slowly retraces the past week during which she had been lying dead in her flat.
