Overview
Clannad is an animated television series first released in 2007 that follows the life of a high school student named Tomoya Okazaki. Tomoya is a third-year student who does not take his studies seriously and feels resentful toward his life in a small Japanese city. His father turned to alcohol and cigarettes following the death of Tomoya's mother in a car accident, leading to a strained relationship and physical altercations between the two. These events contributed to Tomoya becoming a delinquent. While walking to school, Tomoya encounters a girl named Nagisa Furukawa. Nagisa is a year older than Tomoya but is repeating her school year due to illness, which has left her isolated as her former peers have moved on. The series depicts Tomoya as he begins to change his perspective after befriending Nagisa and several other eccentric girls. The show was created by Jun Maeda and features voice performances by actors including Yuichi Nakamura and Mai Nakahara.
