Overview

Cars 3 is a 2017 American animated sports comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. Directed by Brian Fee, the movie serves as the third installment in the Cars franchise and acts as a direct sequel to both the 2006 film Cars and its 2011 follow-up, Cars 2. The film was released on June 16, 2017, and features a voice cast that includes Owen Wilson, Cristela Alonzo, Chris Cooper, and Nathan Fillion. The plot follows the legendary racer Lightning McQueen after he is blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast competitors. Suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves, McQueen sets out to prove that he remains the best race car in the world. To return to the track, he must enlist the help of an eager young race technician who has her own strategy for victory. Along the way, McQueen finds inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and encounters a series of unexpected turns during his journey to compete once again.
