Camila Flores is a peasant who lost her parents at a young age. She was raised by her grandfather, Genaro, who is a rooster breeder but struggles financially. Genaro's primary concern is that Camila will eventually leave him, and he fears she will not be happy. Camila's life changes when she meets a lawyer from the capital, who is immediately drawn to her. The lawyer asks Genaro for permission to visit Camila, and Genaro grants his request, believing the lawyer will soon forget about his granddaughter. As a result of their interactions, Camila and the lawyer develop romantic feelings for each other.
