In season one, episode six hundred seventy-seven of C.I.D., titled Abhijeet in Jail, a man's bag is stolen from a train platform. The bag contains a diamond worth three crore rupees. The C.I.D. team is called to investigate the crime and successfully manages to catch the robber. However, the situation takes a critical turn when the authorities find that the robber has been poisoned and is dying.

On his deathbed, the robber makes a shocking confession to the team. He states that he knew nothing about the diamond inside the bag. Instead, he reveals that he was paid by someone else to carry out the robbery. This confession leads the C.I.D. to realize that someone else knew the expensive diamond was in that specific bag. Furthermore, this unknown individual poisoned the thief while he was in prison in order to keep his mouth shut and conceal the truth behind the crime. The episode follows the C.I.D. as they deal with these unexpected developments in the ongoing investigation.
