Overview

Big Windup! is a television series from 2007 that follows the story of a young baseball player dealing with the aftermath of middle school disappointment. The protagonist, Ren Mihashi, previously served as the ace pitcher for his middle school baseball team. Despite his position, his pitching performance was poor and his team never achieved victory. The constant defeats led to mistreatment from his teammates, who eventually stopped trying to win games. This negative experience left Mihashi with low self-confidence upon graduating from middle school. Determined to avoid baseball entirely, he chooses to attend high school in a different prefecture with no plans to continue playing. However, circumstances change when he arrives at Nishiura High School. Despite his intentions to avoid the sport, he becomes involved with the school's baseball team. Mihashi is ultimately persuaded to join as their starting pitcher, marking a new chapter in his baseball journey.
