Petty discusses his early bar band, Mudcrutch, the formation of the Heartbreakers in 1975, the record company battle in which he was sued for breach of contract and his bankruptcy. He also talks about the devastating fire that destroyed his home and the creation of The Traveling Wilburys with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne. "Tom Petty: Behind The Music" includes interviews with members of Petty's family, his band mates, record producers Jimmy Iovine and Rick Rubin, and manager Tony Dimitriades.
