Overview

Beastars is a television series set in a world where anthropomorphic beasts of all kinds coexist. The narrative centers on a gentle, reclusive grey wolf named Legoshi who attends Cherryton Academy. The school environment becomes strained by an uneasy tension between carnivores and herbivores, which reaches a breaking point following the murder of an alpaca named Tem, a member of the school drama club. As the institution deals with the aftermath of this predation incident, Legoshi faces his own burgeoning predatory urges. His life is further complicated by a relationship with a rabbit, the influence of a charismatic deer, and the eventual unmasking of the carnivorous murderer. Following this revelation, the academy implements a segregation policy to protect herbivores, which increases public disdain for carnivores. The series, created by Paru Itagaki, depicts these societal challenges alongside the presence of a black market. The show, which began in 2019, is available for streaming on various platforms including Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+.
