Back to Field is a Chinese reality television program that premiered in 2017 on Hunan TV. The series documents a simplistic lifestyle lived away from bustling city centers, with each season taking place in a different rural location across China. The show is recognized as a life-service documentary series featuring cast members Huang Lei and He Jiong. In the program, the cast is provided only with basic life necessities. They are responsible for managing their own daily tasks, including cooking meals and building furniture. To acquire additional cooking ingredients and tools, the cast must complete specific assignments given by the production crew, such as planting and harvesting crops. The program also features different guests in each episode who join the cast to assist with daily chores. Known in Chinese as Xiàngwǎng de shēnghuó, the series focuses on the practical challenges and routines of rural living, emphasizing self-sufficiency and communal labor as the participants navigate their environment throughout the duration of the show.
