Aruvi is a drama film released in 2017 with a runtime of two hours and two minutes. The film features Aditi Balan in the title role of Aruvi and Anjali Varadhan as Emily, with the narrative beginning as the two characters are interrogated by a law enforcement officer named Mohammad. The story follows a gentle girl who was born and brought up amidst an ever-growing eco-social-consumeristic environment and finds it difficult to fit into society. After experiencing life events such as being thrown out of her house by her family because she supposedly gets pregnant during college, she decides to take it hard on the people. Prior to its wide release, the film was premiered at various film festival circuits, holding its first public screening at the Shanghai International Film Festival on June 14, 2016. It was subsequently released theatrically worldwide on December 15, 2017, receiving highly positive reviews from critics.
