Overview

Apocalypto is a 2006 epic historical action-adventure film directed and produced by Mel Gibson, who co-wrote the screenplay with Farhad Safinia. Set during the decline of the Mayan civilization, the film follows a young man from a peaceful tribe whose life is upended when his village is attacked by a violent invading force. He is captured and taken on a perilous journey to a world dominated by fear and oppression, where he faces a harrowing fate.
