If you grew up reading fairy tales, you probably know the trope of evil stepmothers. She waltzes into the lives of her stepchildren and turns them into a living nightmare, just like in the stories of Cinderella and Snow White. Usually, good triumphs over evil.

But what about stepmoms in real life?

While some great stepmoms are out there, others take the ‘evil’ bit to a whole other level, like in the case of Theresa Balboa. She showed the world that evil stepmothers not only exist, but they’re far worse than those we read about in fairytales. Worst of all, she showed us that not all stories have happy endings.
