Overview

Animaniacs is an American animated comedy television series created by Tom Ruegger and produced by Amblin Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television Animation. The series follows the zany adventures of three inseparable siblings named Yakko, Wakko, and Dot. According to the narrative, these characters were supposedly created in the 1930s, but their cartoons were considered too chaotic for the general public to handle. Consequently, the trio was locked away in the studio water tower until they escaped in the 1990s to wreak havoc in the modern world. The show originally aired on the Fox Kids block starting September 13, 1993, before moving to The WB in 1995. The series featured voice work from Rob Paulsen, Jess Harnell, Tress MacNeille, and Frank Welker. Beyond its initial broadcast run, the program aired on various other networks including Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and the Hub Network. The series is currently available in its entirety on DVD. It remains an original creation developed specifically for television rather than being based on a book.
