Alone is an American survival competition series that premiered in 2015 on the History channel. The program documents the daily experiences of individuals tasked with surviving in the wilderness for as long as possible. Participants are placed in remote environments, such as the Vancouver Island wilderness, where they must rely on their own skills and a limited amount of survival equipment. A defining feature of the series is the absence of camera crews, producers, or support teams on site, requiring the participants to self-document their experiences. The show serves as a test of human will, following ten survival experts who compete to outlast one another. In season four, the format featured seven paired teams rather than individual participants. The last person or team remaining receives a cash prize of 500,000 dollars. The series continues to air, with cast members and their respective survival journeys featured across multiple seasons on the History channel. The production emphasizes the authentic struggles of these survivalists as they attempt to endure challenging conditions in isolation.
