The production was jointly created by several companies, including Beijing Ruyi Xinxin Film Investment Co., Ltd., Heli Chenguang International Culture Media Co., Ltd., Beijing Chun Tian Ronghe Film and Television Culture Co., Ltd., and Shandong Film and Television Production Co., Ltd. The narrative follows Communist agent Fang Meng'ao, who operates undercover as an Air Force colonel. Amidst the political instability, Kuomintang leader Chiang Ching-kuo initiates a campaign to remove corrupt officials from the party. Fang Meng'ao is tasked with investigating corruption, which involves his own father, and later assists in the transportation of national assets to Taiwan. Caught between his duty, family obligations, and shifting political landscapes, Fang plays a significant role in a covert mission related to the peaceful liberation of Beijing. The drama is also known by its native title, Bei Ping Wu Zhan Shi.
