Akikan! is an anime television series that aired in Japan from January 4, 2009, to March 29, 2009. Produced by the studio Brain's Base, the series follows the life of a high school student named Kakeru Daichi. Kakeru, who collects rare juice cans, finds his life changed after purchasing a melon soda on his way home from school. Upon attempting to drink the soda, the can unexpectedly transforms into a girl. Kakeru names this new companion Melon. The series explores the consequences of this encounter as Kakeru navigates his new reality. In addition to the standard episodes, a special installment known as episode 6.5 aired on February 15, 2009. This broadcast featured a half-hour, three-part live-action production that included both the series' voice actors and musicians. The cast of the show includes Jun Fukuyama, Sayaka Narita, Aki Toyosaki, and Mamiko Noto. The program is also known by the title Empty Can! and focuses on the unusual circumstances surrounding Kakeru and his interactions with the living can.
