Agatha Christie's Marple is a British ITV television programme based on the works of British crime novelist Agatha Christie. The series follows the adventures of Miss Jane Marple, an elderly spinster living in the quiet little village of St Mary Mead. The title character was played by Geraldine McEwan from the first to the third series, and by Julia McKenzie from the fourth series onwards. The programme debuted on ITV in the UK in 2004 and ran until 2013, with a total of 23 episodes in 6 series. During her visits to friends and relatives in other villages, Miss Marple often stumbles upon mysterious murders which she helps solve, using her unparalleled powers of observation to win over the police. The series is an adaptation of Agatha Christie's stories, with the first six episodes being adaptations of the Miss Marple novels. The programme features Miss Marple's reputation and skills as she helps solve crimes in various villages.
