Overview

A Song from Beyond is a drama film released on November 22, 2026, in Japan. The film has a runtime of one hour and twenty minutes. The story follows Momoko, a photographer who moves from her life in Tokyo back to her hometown of Kyoto. While in Kyoto, she is approached by a group of university film students who ask her to appear in their graduation project. Momoko agrees to participate in the students' film on the specific condition that they assist her in translating the contents of a cassette tape. This tape belonged to her late Taiwanese partner, with whom she previously lived. The provided information regarding the 2026 film is distinct from a 2022 short film of the same name directed by Paolo Martinez, which centers on a deaf guitarist named Kaya who attempts to decipher a family melody while being tracked by mercenaries in the woods. The 2026 production focuses exclusively on Momoko and her connection to the recorded audio from her past.
