The film 48/49 - Revolution in Baden is a documentary and history feature released in Germany in October 2026. The story begins in September 1847 when people gathered at the Salmen inn in Offenburg and put forward thirteen demands, including freedom of the press, trial by jury, fair taxation, and a parliament representing the people. What started as a protest evolved into the revolution in Baden. In April 1848, Friedrich Hecker set out from Konstanz with a volunteer militia, and in September Gustav Struve proclaimed the republic in Lorrach. By May 1849, the Baden army went over to the people, causing Grand Duke Leopold to flee and a provisional government to take control of the country. Ultimately, only Prussian troops brought the Baden Revolution to an end, concluding on July 23.
