Zhu Shimao is a male actor born on March 28, 1954, in Yantai, Shandong Province, China. He joined the People's Liberation Army in 1970 and served as an actor in the Fuzhou Military Region Repertory Theatre. In 1975, Beijing Film Studio director Shui Hua cast him as Fu Hailong in the film Children of Xisha, marking his entry into the film industry. Director Xie Jin subsequently chose him to play Xu Lingzhang in the film Wrangler before Zhu was officially transferred to the August 1st Film Studios in 1983. Under Xie Jin's direction, Zhu focused on emotional nuance and character depth to portray an intellectual who was labeled as rightist and endured hardships. He holds thirty-eight known credits for acting.
