Cregger is one of the founding members of the New York City comedy troupe The Whitest Kids U' Know, alongside Trevor Moore, Sam Brown, Timmy Williams and Darren Trumeter. As an actor he later appeared in the sitcoms Friends with Benefits, Guys with Kids and Wrecked. He expanded into film by writing and directing the horror movie Barbarian in 2022, which achieved commercial success and positive critical reviews. In 2025 he wrote and directed another horror film, Weapons, which received both critical and commercial acclaim and earned Amy Madigan a Best Supporting Actress Oscar at the 2026 Academy Awards.
