Yuri Iosifovich Vizbor was a Soviet songwriter, bard, film and theatre actor, journalist, writer, screenwriter, and poet, as well as one of the founders of the author song genre and creator of the reportage song genre. He was born in Moscow, RSFSR, USSR on June 20, 1934, and died on September 17, 1984, at the age of 50. Vizbor graduated from the faculty of Russian language and literature of the Moscow Pedagogical Institute in 1955. During his life, he authored more than 300 songs, including his first text, Madagascar, written in 1955. He worked as a teacher, served in the army, and from 1958 worked on the All-Union Radio, accumulating 24 known acting credits on The Movie Database.
