His father, Konstantin Stepanov, served as the director of a Soviet collective farm in Siberia. He established himself as a popular Russian film and theatre actor and worked at the Theater workshop of Pyotr Fomenko, appearing in various stage productions for the workshop as well as a number of television series. Stepanov was also recognized as a winner of several theatrical awards during his career. He passed away on March 3, 2010, at the age of forty-two.
