Vidya Balan is an Indian actress who appears in Hindi films. Born on January 1, 1978, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, she started her career in the entertainment industry by starring in music videos, television shows, and commercials. Balan made her movie debut in the Bengali film Bhalo Theko in 2003. She later transitioned to Hindi films, making her debut with Parineeta in 2005, which earned her a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and a Best Actress nomination. Balan has since appeared in a variety of character roles, including in Rajkumar Hirani's Lage Raho Munna Bhai, which brought her her first commercial success.
