He is best known as a founding member of the filmmaking collective Radio Silence. Gillett first gained recognition in the found footage genre through the Radio Silence segment titled 10/31/98 in the film V/H/S. He later co-directed several horror films alongside Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, including Devil's Due in 2014, Southbound, and Ready or Not in 2019. Continuing his work within the horror genre, Gillett helped revive the Scream franchise by co-directing Scream in 2022 and Scream VI in 2023, followed by the vampire horror film Abigail in 2024.
