Biography
Giovanni Tinto Brass is an Italian film director and screenwriter born on 26 March 1933. He is the grandson of the artist Italico Brass, who gave him the nickname Tintoretto, which he later adapted into his professional name. During the 1960s and 1970s, Brass directed numerous critically acclaimed avant-garde films across various genres. Following the release of Salon Kitty in 1976 and Caligula in 1979, his directorial style shifted toward the erotic genre. Notable films in this later period include All Ladies Do It, Paprika, Frivolous Lola, and Trasgredire. Although Brass intended Caligula to function as a satire on power, producers re-edited the film without his consent, altering its final content.
