Biography
Tanya Lapointe is a Canadian filmmaker and former journalist who is most noted for her 2020 documentary film The Paper Man, also known as Lafortune en papier. Before her career in filmmaking, she worked as a long-time arts and culture journalist for Ici Radio-Canada. In 2015, she took a leave of absence from the network to work as a production assistant on the film Arrival, directed by Denis Villeneuve, whom she began dating in the mid-2010s. Lapointe subsequently announced her departure from journalism in 2016. Her debut as a documentary filmmaker was the 2018 film 50/50, which examined the gender gap between men and women in society and was broadcast by Radio-Canada. The Paper Man premiered at the Whistler Film Festival in 2020 and won the Audience Award.
