She was a female American country music singer-songwriter who was known as one of the genre's best-known artists and biggest-selling female singers. She earned the title of the First Lady of Country Music, and her most well-known song, Stand by Your Man, became one of the best-selling hit singles by a woman in country music history. Her hits frequently addressed themes of loneliness, divorce, and the challenges of life and relationships, and she charted 23 number one songs in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Wynette passed away on April 6, 1998, at the age of 55.
