Suraj Sharma is an Indian actor born in New Delhi, India, on March 21, 1993. His parents are Malayalis who hail from Kerala. He completed his schooling at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya and studied philosophy at St Stephen's College in New Delhi. Before his acting career, he had no acting experience and auditioned for the 2012 film Life of Pi only because he accompanied his younger brother, Shriharsh Sharma, who requested that he come along. Sharma was one of 3,000 actors to audition for the title role of Piscine Molitor Patel, also known as Pi. After going through several rounds of auditions, he won the part. He has a known credit total of twenty-eight and identifies as male.
