Stephen Chbosky is an American novelist, screenwriter, and film director. He was born on January 25, 1970, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Chbosky is best known for writing the coming-of-age novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which was published in 1999. He also wrote the screenplay for the 2005 film Rent and Disney's 2017 live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. Additionally, Chbosky was involved in the creation of the CBS television series Jericho, serving as co-creator, executive producer, and writer.
