Stephan Lacant is a German director, writer, and producer born in Essen on September 9, 1972. After completing his secondary education, he studied theatre, film, and television sciences in Bochum and Cologne. He later moved to the United States, where he spent several years in New York studying directing at the Stella Adler Acting Conservatory and the Film Academy. In 1996, he wrote and filmed his first project.

Throughout his career, Lacant has worked on a variety of film and television productions. He is perhaps best known for directing the 2013 German drama Free Fall, which he co-wrote with Karsten Dahlem.
