Biography
Sophia Loren, born Sofia Villani Scicolone on 20 September 1934, is an Italian actress. In 1962, she became the first actress to win an Academy Award for a non-English-speaking performance for her role in Two Women. Throughout her career, Loren has won 50 international awards, including an Oscar, seven Golden Globe Awards, a Grammy Award, a BAFTA Award, and a Laurel Award. Her filmography includes Houseboat, El Cid, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, Marriage Italian Style, and A Special Day. She has also achieved critical and commercial success in television movies such as Courage. She is recognized for her work in both home box-office productions and American blockbusters.
