Simon Charles Pendered MacCorkindale was a British actor, film director, writer, and producer born on February 12, 1952, in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England, United Kingdom. He passed away on October 14, 2010, at the age of 58. Because his father served as a Royal Air Force officer, MacCorkindale spent much of his childhood moving. Poor eyesight prevented him from following an RAF career, leading him to plan to become a theatre director instead. He trained at the Theatre of Arts in London and made his West End acting debut in 1974. His television roles included I, Claudius and Jesus of Nazareth, and his breakthrough film role was Simon Doyle in Death on the Nile.
