Sergey Vladimirovich Shnurov, also known as Shnur, was born on April 13, 1973, in Leningrad, RSFSR, USSR, which is now St. Petersburg, Russia. He is a Russian musician and songwriter best known as the frontman of the ska-punk band Leningrad, which he formed in 1997 and led until the end of 2008 when the group disbanded. Following the breakup, Shnur and several band members formed Rubl. Shnurov composed music for several films, including the Russian cult film Boomer and its sequel. Three of his songs appeared on the soundtrack for Everything Is Illuminated, including the popular song Dikiy Muzhchina. He has a daughter named Siham, who lives in France and works as a drummer and songwriter.
