He runs Esmail Corp and is known for his work on several television series and films. Esmail created, wrote, and directed the USA Network television series Mr. Robot, starring Rami Malek, and wrote and directed the feature films Comet and Leave the World Behind. He also produced and directed the first season of the Amazon Prime Video series Homecoming, starring Julia Roberts and Janelle Monáe, and produced several other television series including Briarpatch, Gaslit, Angelyne, and The Resort.
