Robert Kirkman (born 30 November 1978 in Lexington, Kentucky) is an American comic‑book writer, screenwriter and producer. He is widely recognised for co‑creating a number of prominent comic series for Image Comics, including The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Invincible, Tech Jacket, Outcast, Oblivion Song and Fire Power. His work for Marvel Comics includes writing the titles Ultimate X‑Men, Irredeemable Ant‑Man and Marvel Zombies. Kirkman also collaborated with Image co‑founder Todd McFarlane on the series Haunt. The Movie Database records that Kirkman has accumulated forty‑four credited writing entries across film and television projects, and lists his gender as male.

Within Image Comics Kirkman holds the position of chief operating officer and is one of five partners currently serving in that capacity; he is the only partner who was not among the original founders of the company. In his capacity as chief operating officer he oversees day‑to‑day operations and strategic initiatives for Image Comics. In 2010 he co‑founded the entertainment company Skybound Entertainment to develop his properties and related projects, and Skybound has been used as a platform to expand the multimedia adaptations of his comic creations.

Earlier in his career Kirkman established the comic‑book imprint Funk‑O‑Tron, where he released his self‑written series Battle Pope in a thirteen‑part run. Funk‑O‑Tron served as an early independent publishing venture that allowed Kirkman to experiment with creator‑owned content.
