Biography
Reiko Dan, born Reiko Hamada on 26 March 1935 in Kyoto City, Kyoto, Japan, was a Japanese actress. Under the stage name 団令子 she accumulated more than one hundred credited performances, primarily in film, between 1957 and 1974. Notable appearances include the Akira Kurosawa productions Sanjuro and Red Beard. After retiring in 1974, Dan returned briefly to the screen in the late 1980s through 1990 to assist her son, actor Yuta Dan (1967–2006). She died on 24 November 2003 at the age of 68. Dan is remembered for her contributions to Japanese cinema during a prolific career.
