Born to a Gambian father who worked as a university English teacher and a French mother of Polish Jewish origin who worked as a bookseller, Khan was also a high-level athlete. She became the French champion in the 60 meters indoor, the vice-champion of France in the 80 meters, joined the French team in 1993, and won the French 4x100-meter championship in 1995. Holding a DESS in human rights and humanitarian law from Assas and a DEA in international law from Paris II, she joined Jean-Paul Huchon's office as a cultural advisor in 2009 while pursuing her acting career.
