Biography

R. Muthuraman, born Muthuraman Radhakrishnan on July 4, 1929, was an Indian actor who worked predominantly in Tamil cinema. Active as a leading actor during the 1960s and 1970s, he was known for his charming screen presence and his ability to portray both romantic and dramatic roles. Due to his versatile acting and language proficiency, he was referred to as Navarasa Thilagam. Over the course of his career, he appeared in over a hundred films and performed alongside the leading heroines of his time. He was the father of actor and politician Karthik Muthuraman and the grandfather of actor Gautham Karthik. R. Muthuraman died on October 16, 1981.
