Biography
Petros Markaris is a Greek writer. He was born in Istanbul and studied economics. Since 1976, Markaris has worked as a freelance writer. He has written a series of detective novels featuring a policeman named Haritos, which have been published in fourteen languages. Markaris has collaborated on film scripts with Theodoros Angelopoulos. He has also translated the works of various authors into Greek, including Bertolt Brecht, Wedekind, Schnitzler, and Goethe's Faust.
