Lopez is perhaps best known for his role as Lieutenant Lou Escobar in the 1974 film Chinatown, opposite Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. He reprised the role in a later film, with Escobar promoted to Captain. Lopez passed away on February 14, 2008, at the age of 78.
