He began his television career by featuring on the Disney Channel series Austin and Ally from 2011 to 2012, and later played a main role in the television series The Fosters from 2015 to 2018. He achieved wider recognition by starring in the Netflix romantic comedy films To All the Boys franchise from 2018 to 2021, Sierra Burgess Is a Loser in 2018, and The Perfect Date in 2019. Centineo subsequently played Atom Smasher in the superhero film Black Adam in 2022 and took on the title role in the Netflix spy-adventure series The Recruit from 2022 to 2025.
