Nikolai Cherkasov was a Soviet theater and film actor. He graduated from the Institute of Performing Arts in 1926. Cherkasov was a mimic artist at the Petrograd Mariinsky Opera and Ballet Theater and the Bolshoi Drama Theater since 1919. He also worked at the Leningrad Youth Theater from 1926 to 1929, the Leningrad and Moscow music halls from 1929 to 1931, and the Leningrad Mobile Theater "Comedy" from 1931 to 1933. Cherkasov was an artist at the Leningrad Academic Drama Theater named after Pushkin from 1933 to 1965. He was honored with several titles, including Honored Artist of the RSFSR in 1937, People's Artist of the RSFSR in 1939, and People's Artist of the USSR in 1947.
