Nikita Sergeyevich Mikhalkov is a Russian filmmaker, actor, and screenwriter born on October 21, 1945, in Moscow. He serves as the head of the Russian Cinematographers' Union. Mikhalkov is a Full Cavalier of the Order For Merit to the Fatherland and a three-time laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation, receiving the honor in 1993, 1995, and 1999. For the film Close to Eden, he won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and received an Academy Award nomination for Best International Feature Film.
