She is known for her role as Pepper Steiger in the Australian soap opera Neighbors, which she played in approximately 100 episodes broadcast between 2006 and 2007. Whelan also appeared in the comedy film Hollywood & Wine and had a recurring role as Maya in the ninth season of the television series Scrubs. Additionally, she was cast in the Farrelly brothers' comedy film Good to Shoot, alongside Jason Sudeikis and Owen Wilson. Whelan has a total of 61 acting credits, primarily in film and television.
